  • The best places to zip line

One of the coolest views of any destination comes from above, and zip lines offer a heart pumping way to get up close and personal with any environment. Below are just a few of the best places to try zip lining when traveling.

Nicknamed "the death ride," Belgium's most famous zip line lets travelers repel from the top of the Atomium moment, one of the largest structures in Europe. Sitting 335 feet above Brussels, this replica of an iron crystal was created for the World's Fair in 1958 but only began offering the zip line option within the past few years.

The zip line does not run year round (and is primarily offered in summers) so plan accordingly. As one of the only zip lines in an urban area, the zip line gives travelers who favor Europe travel a unique opportunity.

    United States
A running theme among the best zip lines is that they all incorporate their natural surroundings to provide once-in-a-lifetime views. While there are zip lines across the country, some of the best are found in Hawaii. Zoom past volcanoes and over the pristine Pacific Ocean, all the while learning about the island's history and environment. Ideal for family travel, Hawaii provides fun and education for every visitor.

Another domestic option is located in Colorado. Fly through mountains and over rushing river canyons. Perfect for day trips or as a primary destination, the Rocky Mountain state has a number of zip line opportunities for varying ages and comfort levels. The slower paced, longer zip lines at these American locales allow for more time to take in the surrounding views and a more family-friendly atmosphere.

    South Africa
Only true fans of adventure travel should check out the world's fastest zip line in Sun City, South Africa. As if hitting speeds of up to 100 mph wasn't enough, the Zip Line Adventure at Tsitsikamma Coastal National Park is also the steepest and tallest in the world. This line is part of a larger canopy tour, so travelers can get their fill of adrenaline as well as stunning views of the park and surrounding Indian Ocean. If the world's most extreme zip line itself isn't enough, cross the park to try the world's tallest bungee jump off of Bloukrans Bridge for a truly unforgettable day.

Zip lines are great options for thrill-seeking travelers in all parts of the globe. Experience unparalleled views of any destination in an extraordinary way.
