We understand you have a budget, that’s why Travel Guard offers our Essential Plan. With fewer coverages and lower benefit limits, the Essential Plan is often the lowest cost option for most travelers. But don’t think that means it’s any less valuable. Popular coverages like Trip Cancellation, Trip Delay, Baggage Coverage, and medical expense coverage are all provided on the Essential Plan. You won’t feel like you’re missing out with the Essential Plan. Plus our Essential Plan comes with the same access to Travel Guard’s 24/7 emergency travel assistance line – know that you have support if certain unexpected events happen on your travels.

Trip Cancellation

Up to 100% Insured Trip Cost*

Reimburses nonrefundable, Unused payments or deposits if you must cancel your Trip due to an illness, Injury, or death of you, a Family Member, Traveling Companion, or for other covered reasons.

Maximum of $150,000

Trip Interruption

Up to 100% Insured Trip Cost*

Reimburses nonrefundable, Unused payments or deposits if you must interrupt your Trip due to an illness, Injury, or death of you, a Family Member, Traveling Companion or Business Partner, or for other covered reasons.

Maximum of $150,000

Trip Interruption – Return Transportation Only

Up to $500

Reimburses the additional Transportation expenses incurred by you to reach the return destination if your Trip is interrupted by one of the Unforeseen events shown in the Trip Interruption section.

Trip Delay

Up to $500

Reimburses up to $100 per day for Reasonable Additional Expenses until travel becomes possible if your Trip is delayed for more than 5 hours due to covered reasons.

Travel Medical Expense/Dental Expense

Up to $15,000/$500

Travel Medical Expense pays for medical expenses incurred due to a Sickness or injury that happens while on a Trip. A $500 sub-limit applies for dental expenses.

Baggage Coverage

Up to $750

Reimburses you if your luggage is lost, damaged, or stolen while on your trip. Coverage is secondary.

Baggage Delay

Up to $200

Reimburses you for the purchase of necessary personal effects if your bags are delayed for more than 24 hours.

Emergency Evacuation and Repatriation of Remains

Up to $150,000

Covers evacuation expenses as directed by a Physician to the nearest adequate medical facility or home in the event of death or if medically required.

Family Coverage

One Child age 17 and under, who is booked to travel with and is related to the primary adult named on the enrollment form, is included in the rates for each paying adult. (Offer does not apply to optional coverages. The Child’s Trip Cost must be equal to or less than the adult traveler(s) Trip Cost).

Non-Flight Accidental Death & Dismemberment

Up to $30,000

Pays for loss of life and limb if it occurs within 365 days of an accident during your Trip.

Pre-Existing Medical Condition Exclusion Waiver

Included if your plan is purchased within 15 days of the Initial Trip Payment.

With this waiver it’s possible to be covered for some medical issues on your Trip, despite your pre-existing condition. The Company will waive the pre-existing medical condition exclusion if the following conditions are met:

  1. Purchasing the travel insurance plan with your first Trip deposit, or shortly thereafter as explained in the Policy;
  2. The amount of coverage purchased equals all prepaid, non-refundable Trip payments or deposits, and the cost of any subsequent arrangements added to the same Trip are insured by the date of payment or deposit for the additional arrangements;
  3. You are medically able to travel when your travel insurance plan is purchased.

Missed Connections

Included if your plan is purchased within 15 days of the Initial Trip Payment.

Up to $150

Trip Cancellation and Interruption due to Financial Default of Travel Supplier

Included if your plan is purchased within 15 days of the Initial Trip Payment.

Medical Bundle

Increases base plan medical expense and medical evacuation benefits, and adds Hospital of choice and additional evacuation benefits.

Security Bundle

Coverage for security evacuation, Flight Guard® and Trip Cancellation or Trip Interruption due to Riot or Civil Disorder.

Rental Vehicle Damage Coverage

Reimburses up to the Maximum Limit shown on the Schedule of Benefits for physical damage to a rental car for which the car rental contract would hold you responsible.

Assistance Services+

All Assistance Services listed below are not insurance benefits and are not provided by the insurer. Travel Guard provides assistance through coordination, negotiation, and consultation using an extensive network of worldwide partners. Expenses incurred from third-party vendors for assistance services not part of a filed insurance plan are the responsibility of the traveler.

Emergency Travel Assistance

24-hour hotline to make emergency travel changes such as rebooking flights, hotel reservations, tracking lost luggage and more.

Travel Medical Assistance

A menu of services available for emergency medical requests including prescription replacement assistance, Physician referrals, medical evacuations, and more.

Worldwide Travel Assistance

Assistance with any travel emergency or request for general travel information including lost, stolen or delayed Baggage; replacing lost passport or travel documents; emergency cash transfers; pre-Trip travel advice; inoculation information; and more.

Concierge Services

Call on your own personal assistant to help. Services include tee time reservations, restaurant referrals and reservations, wireless device assistance, sporting or theater tickets, and more. If you need it, we’ll find it for you. 

Expenses incurred from third-party vendors for assistance services not part of a filed insurance plan are the responsibility of the traveler.
