• Rock climbing in South East Asia is an adventurous way to spend a holiday

Travelers bored with conventional vacations may be seeking a more active and engaging travel experience. For those adventure seekers who would like a little more challenge on their holiday, British Travel writer Richard Gray recommends a trip up the craggy cliffs of Laos. The South East Asian country of Laos, landlocked by neighboring Myanmar and China, is well known for its thick forests and statuesque mountains, and has been a travel secret of mountaineers for years. When touring the Laotian countryside, Gray recommends the subtle edifices of Southern Laos, where long chains of limestone mountains remain largely unspoiled by industrialization and rampant tourism. The untouched face of Phou Hi Poun, whose ample holds and accommodating surface "could turn this place into one of the premier climbing destinations of the world," blogs Gray on the Telegraph. The author is quick to warn prospective climbers that these mountains can be quite remote, and that climbing can be a very dangerous hobby for even the most experienced adventurer.
