Denmark Travel Planning & Travel Tips

Embassy contact information: American travelers visiting or living in Denmark should register with the local U.S. Embassy. The embassy can provide valuable information for traveling and living in Denmark. The U.S. embassy is located at Dag Hammarskjölds Allé 24, 2100 in Copenhagen, right by the Osterport train station. The telephone number is 453-341-7100 and the fax is 453-543-0223. Alternatively, the embassy can be contacted via email at CopenhagenACS@state.gov. Visitors should know that the Embassy is closed on Wednesday in addition to American and Danish holidays. Travelers can also get detailed information on visas and other services at www.denmark.usembassy.gov

Climate: The period of May-September is the best time to visit Denmark. July and August are especially beautiful in the country and with tourism at its peak, shops will stay open later and there are many open air concerts to take advantage of. Although winters in Denmark can be harsh, they are moderate compared to Scandinavian winters in Sweden or Norway.

Calling internationally: Dial the international calling number (011 from the US), then the country code (45 for Denmark), then the phone number. Electricity: The electric current in Denmark is 230 volts.
