TripAdvisor released its annual Travelers' Choice Destinations awards, and it's no surprise that many of the most famous tourist draws made the list. Paris, New York City and London took home the top three spots, but there are cities further down the list that are must-see travel spots as well. In particular, if you're looking for a new place to visit, Prague may be your best bet. The Czech capital, which came in at no. 9 on the list, has something for everyone, whether you're looking for a cultural experience, compelling history or impressive architecture. Regardless of what you want out of your trip to Prague, there are a few destinations in particular that you can't skip.
Almost a city unto itself, Prague Castle is one of the most stunning buildings in Europe. The structure holds the Guinness World Record for being the largest ancient castle in the world, and at more than 753,400 square feet, it's not hard to believe. With a history dating as far back to the 9th century, Prague Castle is not only one of the most impressive structures in the world but it also has a rich and compelling history.
With so much to see, it can certainly be overwhelming to decide where to go when exploring the Prague Castle, but you should make a point to stop by a few specific spots. Most of all, the St. Vitus Cathedral is a must-see highlight of the castle. Arguably the most recognizable building in the castle's complex, this stunning piece of Gothic architecture will certainly leave a lasting impression.
Old Town Square
With a history as compelling as Prague's, you'd be doing yourself a disservice if you didn't stroll through its oldest streets. The Old Town Square is home to many of the city's famous buildings, including the iconic Astronomical Clock, which dates back to the 1400s. However, it's not just the architecture that makes the square such a must-see destination within the city. The square is also a thriving hub of activity, and you'll run into everything from musicians and performers to protestors and vendors, which will truly give you a taste of what Prague has to offer.
