• Get an inside look at the new Virgin Hotel

You might know the Virgin Group for its mobile or airline services. However, the company also has a series of additional projects, including its own wine collection and record store. Now the owner of the company, Richard Branson, has announced the opening of the first Virgin hotel in Chicago.

Virgin Hotels Chicago has already made a mark on travelers, featuring unique guest room designs and a number of amenities that distinguish it from other accommodations in the area. Take an inside look into the hip hotel that's attracting travelers to Chicago from all around the world.

    The guest rooms
The world's first Virgin Hotel took two years to create, as Branson transformed the Old Dearborn Bank Building into a stylish escape with features that have been referred to in recent reviews as swanky and chic. It's already been deemed a hot spot for the trendiest of hipsters looking to spend a night in downtown Chicago.

According to the hotel's website, the staff calls the hotel's guest rooms "chambers," which visitors find is a much better term for the sleeping quarters they're placed in. Each chamber features a long hallway which leads to a spacious sleeping area and a dressing room that make guests feel like royalty. Ultramodern furnishings give the chambers an ambiance that embodies the true essence of style and sophistication. However, this is contrasted with features like the mini bar, which is fully stocked with a variety of snacks and drinks that are priced similar to nearby convenience stores.

Privacy is also another popular feature that visitors will find in their rooms. Sliding doors close off every space in the chamber to give business travelers privacy in their work station - which comes with every chamber - or in the changing room where guests will find a stylish vanity.

The hotel's free phone app, called Lucy, is a handy tool that allows guests to control different features of the room like the television and thermostat. It even includes a live chat to order room service, as well as full access to music and videos on demand. Visitors have also raved about the free Wi-Fi and the waived early and late checkout fees.

    Special features
Don't want to leave your furry friend at home? The Virgin Hotel encourages its guests to take their pets along, offering chambers fully equipped with doggy pull-out beds. There are a total of 40 dog-friendly guest rooms that provide gourmet dog treats and all the essentials to properly take care of your four-legged friend at no extra cost.

When guests are in need of a drink, they should head down to the Common Club, known for its array of beverages and high-end features, such as the illuminated bar and luxurious seating areas. Conde Nast Traveler recommended stopping by during its daily social hour held for guests, where you'll find enticing cocktail deals. This is one of the first lounging spaces built into the hotel and the staff plans on including a few more as the accommodation grows.

The location of the Hotel Virgins is ideal, situated right in the center of all the action going on downtown. Hungry? You're in luck, as the resort is surrounded by a significant number of the city's most popular restaurants. Whether you're looking for an meal inspired by French or Asian cuisine, or are hungry for some quality American food, you will find everything that suits your preferences right around the corner.

If you're searching for something to pass the time, the area is also home to the Lincoln Hall, where live bands play, and the Blue Man Group venue. Sports enthusiasts will love the hotel's close proximity to the Chicago Bears stadium and the basketball court where the Chicago Bulls play.
