Unexpected events can occur at any time during a student’s trip. It takes just one small unexpected event to leave you with cancelled plans, lost luggage or medical expenses – all far from home. The Student Optional Plan offers affordable coverage with a broad package of benefits.

Was it the local fare you just consumed in the little restaurant down street or is it something more serious? Who knows, but suddenly you’ve become seriously ill and need immediate medical attention. Who can recommend a good local physician and even coordinate transportation to the hospital on your behalf?

You arrived safely at the airport of your destination, but now you’re looking at an empty luggage carousel. Your bag is nowhere to be found. Who can help you find it? If it's delayed, who will pay for your necessities? If it's stolen, who will pay to replace it?

While packing up to head to the airport after a tournament, you realize that your wallet is nowhere to be found. Where do you turn for emergency cash, and how will you get your passport replaced?

While enjoying yourself in the new and exciting environment, you trip and hear a cracking noise in your ankle. After a visit to the hospital, the health care providers need payment right away. Who will cover the out of pocket and copayments in case your medical provider is outside your network?

Your bag was lost with your prescription drug inside, and you need to find a way to get an emergency prescription filled. Who do you call?

A member of your family falls seriously ill, and you must cancel your trip. What happens to your non-refundable deposits or pre-payments?

The Student Optional Plan, developed by Travel Guard, can provide coverage for these events and much more. To enroll in the plan, pay the plan cost at any time up until your final trip payment and before departing on your trip.
