Frequently Asked Questions
For questions regarding coverage or to file a claim please call 1.866.370.0414
Q. What is the pre-existing condition waiver and how can I qualify? A. If insurance is purchased within 14 days of making the initial Trip Payment, the Pre-Existing Medical Condition Exclusion will be waived. This is applicable to all coverages contained in the policy. You must be medically able to travel when plan cost is paid. In the event a claim is filed, the injury or illness must be substantiated to our Claims Department.
Q. What does this plan cover due to Trip Cancellation? A. The insurer will reimburse the non-refundable, pre-paid payments or deposits if you must cancel your Trip for an unforeseen sickness, injury or death of yourself, a family member, traveling companion or business partner; you being subpoenaed, summoned for jury duty, hijacked, quarantined, or required to appear as a witness; your primary residence made uninhabitable by Natural Disaster, vandalism or burglary; you or a Traveling Companion has a documented traffic accident, substantiated by a police report, while en route to destination; inclement weather causing delay or cancellation; or strike. For a complete list of covered reasons and details of coverage for Trip Cancellation, please refer to the Description of Coverage.
Q. Will I be covered if I cancel my Trip for any reason? A. Only certain unforeseen circumstances would be covered. A list of these circumstances is included in the Description of Coverage.
When you purchase the Travel Protection Plan within 14 days of your initial deposit/payment for your Trip, you also receive the Viking River Cruises Cancellation Waiver Benefit that allows you to cancel your Viking River Cruises travel arrangements before your scheduled departure for ANY REASON. Under the Cancel for Any Reason Waiver, your cancellation penalty will be refunded in Travel Vouchers. Please refer to page 36 of the Description of Coverage for additional information on Viking River Cruises’ Cancellation Waiver Benefit. This Cancellation Waiver Benefit is provided by Viking River Cruises and is not an insurance benefit underwritten by National Fire Insurance Company.
Q. What happens if a family member not traveling becomes ill or passes away? Is this covered? A. An illness or death of a family member not traveling with you may be considered a covered reason for Trip Cancellation or Trip Interruption (conditions apply). The definition of a family member is included in the Description of Coverage.
Q. When does the coverage begin? A. The coverage for Trip Cancellation will be effective for an Insured at 12:01 a.m. Standard Time on the date following receipt by the tour company of any required plan cost. All other coverages will begin on the later of: (a) 12:01 a.m. Standard Time on the scheduled Departure Date shown on the travel documents or (b) the date and time the Insured starts his/her Trip, provided any required plan cost has been paid.
Q. How do I file a claim? A. Call us at 1.866.370.0414, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A representative will review and complete a claim form for you and explain what needs to be provided in order to pay your claim.
