Climate: The best times to visit are April-June, when daily temperatures run 60s-70s F/16-25 C, and September-November, when they range 50s-70s F/13-24 C. December-March can be rainy and depressing. The coastal region has a mild, consistent climate. In the mountains, it's a bit cooler (and sometimes downright cold), with dry conditions prevailing in the valleys and plains and extremes of temperature in the desert. Summer daily highs for the coast and inland can reach 100 F/35 C (higher in the desert), while the average winter temperature is around 50 F/10 C.
