• Small and sleek digital cameras make for better pics taken on the road

    2010-04-27

Throughout the 80s and much of the 90s, much of American culture and design was wrapped up in the notion that bigger is better. Bigger cars. Bigger TVs. Bigger cameras. Yet as times change, so do trends in personal electronics. As a result, a number of major manufacturers are offering up high quality digital cameras that can take stunning, full-color digital photos and fit in the palm of one's hand.

One of the best cameras for travelers comes from Japanese manufacturer Nikon. The Coolpix S220 boasts a 10.0 megapixel lense that supports high enough resolution to print a 16x20 image without blockiness or color bleeding. It also has a 3x optical zoom and four-way stabilization to prevent blurring.

Travelers seeking a more aesthetically pleasing camera that doesn't sacrifice quality will probably prefer the Canon PowerShot, a 7.1 megapixel camera with a large 3-inch LCD display and an extra layer of scratch-resistant coating.

From Sony comes the Cybershot, with a stunning 10.1 megapixel lens that features 4X optical zoom, facial recognition software, smile shutter technology and HD video recording and playback capability. It also comes in a variety of colors for those shutterbugs who prefer some style in their camera.
