Audiences across the world are rediscovering their passion for the story of the legendary outlaw Robin Hood thanks to the eponymous modern epic directed by Ridley Scott and starring Russell Crowe. Travelers plotting a course to England this summer will have the chance to further explore the intricacies of the legend with a trip to the sleepy city of Nottingham. Nottingham, the setting of the story and home to the nefarious Prince John, is a small city in the East Midlands region of the UK.
Today, travelers might be surprised to find Nottingham a vibrant modern city with a bustling urban center. Yet despite its modernity, Nottingham still boasts a number of classic features for Robin Hood fans.
Most notable is Nottingham Castle, a beautiful and historic structure that transports visitors to another time and place and gives one a real sense of what life in the medieval era was like. The Castle will be one of two locations in the area hosting a number of memorabilia from the movie including props, costumes and set pieces. The other location enshrouded in Robin Hood lore, and featuring an exhibition of movie memorabilia, is nearby Sherwood forest, the legendary home of Robin Hood and his merry men.
