See lemurs in Madagascar

Madagascar, an island off the coast of Africa, was immortalized in the children's movie of the same name. While the movie was obviously fantasy and doesn't represent everything the country has to offer, it did get one thing right: the lemurs who live there.
The island is home to many different species of lemurs, some of which, like the ring-tailed lemur, only live in Madagascar.
A good place to glimpse these cute creatures is Tsingy de Bemaraha, which is protected as an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Located on a plateau, this deciduous forest is home to various flora and fauna, including various types of lemurs and chameleons.
There's plenty to do beyond lemur-spotting, too. Unlike some countries in Africa, Madagascar has a stable government and friendly locals, many of whom make their living off of the tourism industry.
Known as Malagasy, these people have developed their own unique culture. Many serve as guides for activities like kayaking and fishing.
Travelers should also be sure to visit smaller islands off of the northwest coast of the mainland. The isle of Nosy Iranja is especially famous as a place to spot turtles.
