2011-12-22
If travelers have dreamed of visiting a Caribbean island but prefer not to dedicate an entire vacation to the area, they should consider taking the new ferry that runs between Port Everglades, Florida, and Freeport, Bahamas. This unique offering will give travelers the ability to travel to the island by boat for the day or as long as they desire so they may enjoy several locations on their getaway.
According to the Miami Herald, the ferry will begin service by December and the journey will take about two and a half hours each way. The ship, called Pinar del Rio, will allow locals and travelers in both regions to visit and enjoy the sites of the sunny Caribbean island.
Freeport is a wonderful destination to explore for a short or long period of time. Travelers who journey to this Caribbean city can scuba dive in the crystal clear waters or take horseback riding excursions and splash through the waves on a trusty steed. There is fun to be had by the whole family when travelers take the ferry from Florida to check out the Bahamas.
