  • Frugal travelers can still explore the world with budget locations

    2010-04-13

With the economy struggling to right itself in the wake of the recent financial downturn, many travelers have put off or canceled international vacations due to monetary concerns. Yet cost-conscious tourists need not fear, as travel advocates The Lonely Island have detailed a number of international destinations that are sure to excite one's family without hurting their wallet.

One of the best budget destinations for international travelers is India. While most travelers might splurge and head to larger urban centers like Mumbai and Delhi, a trip to the country's mountainous northern region still provides much to see and do at a fraction of the expense. Vacationers can go climbing in Ladakh, surfing in Port Blair or just explore the beautiful countryside of this less popular region.

For a more European vibe, consider a trip to Poland where the Euro has yet to be introduced and the exchange rate with the U.S. is quite favorable. Vacationers can study up on the country's history and modern culture in the capital city of Warsaw, or relax by the sea in Szczecin.

For travelers hoping to stay in the western hemisphere, it can be less expensive to explore the Central American country of Honduras, a country littered with golden beaches ideal for scuba diving.
