• Visit the incredible jungle garden in Xilitla, Mexico

    2011-12-29

There are plenty of natural wonders to explore while on vacation in Mexico, but in Xilitla, there is an amazing manmade park that travelers will not want to miss. Known as Las Pozas, this sculpture garden is the creation of Edward James, a British Aristocrat who selected this exotic place to use as a backdrop for his masterpiece.

For more than two decades, Edward spent time in Xilitla creating 36 massive stone pillars and surreal looking concrete structures, reports Travel and Leisure. They represent things like opera houses and castles, which are now greatly entwined with the jungle-like landscapes. Travelers can explore the ground and view some of these striking creations that may have been influenced by Edward's good friends, Salvador Dali and Pablo Picasso.

According to Fodor's, while journeying to the living art installation in Xilitla, there are several other stops that visitors can make along the way. One scenic spot is the region where the Sierra Gorda missions reside. Adorned with spiritual icons and designs, these jungle buildings offer a look into Mexican history and religion.
