Whether it's for family or student travel, trips abroad can be unforgettable. However, when there's a language barrier, it's important to have fast, easy translators on hand. Here are two of the most promising apps on the market.

    iTranslate
Over 80 languages are supported on the iTranslate Voice app, making it a lifesaver for travelers in foreign countries, according to iMore. Need to ask someone how to get to your hotel? Just speak the phrase into the phone and watch the translation appear right on your screen. You can also get meanings and definitions of words that you're unfamiliar with to avoid situations where you're stuck playing charades in order to communicate with someone. The app can currently be purchased and downloaded for smartphones on iTunes.

    Fast Talk
Fast Talk is a new app for smartphones that was recently released by the online travel source, Lonely Planet. The app serves travelers in foreign-speaking countries who prefer to skip the miscommunication sometimes associated with speaking into a phone for apps like iTranslate Voice. Offering a number of the most commonly used languages around the world, the app is incredible easy to use. With just a tap of the screen, users get access to nearly every phrase they could possibly need, which are separated by category, such as shopping and accommodation for easy, quick access. The phrases were picked by some of Lonely Planet's most experienced world travelers who know the ins and outs of communicating with native speakers during international travel.
