Travelers can benefit from travel applications

Vacationers who own an iPhone, iPod Touch or an iPad may find it easier to plan a trip with the help of innovative travel-related mobile applications, some of which have been nominated for a 2010 Best App Ever Award, according to CNN.
The "Where To?" app uses the device's GPS in order to locate several points of interest, including ATMs, restaurants, hospitals, movie theaters and much more. It offers users information on 700 categories and 2,400 brands, the news source reported.
"Airbnb" is a free program that allows individuals to book a hotel right from their iPhone. It lists 50,000 lodging locations in more than 8,000 cities and can even search for the closest place to stay with its "Find a Place Tonight" feature.
Travelers who seem to always leave something behind when vacationing may want to check out the "Packing Pro" application, which creates lists of necessary items to pack. The application allows users to enter the length of the trip and how many children and adults are attending. The program also lets users make and edit their own personalized lists.
