Time flies while relaxing at Tobacco Caye

A vacation, by definition, is supposed to be an escape from the concerns and responsibilities of everyday life. Some people like to take active vacations where they hike or ski, while others like to see exciting and thriving urban metropolises. For those travelers with little more than relaxation on their agenda, the tiny island of Tobacco Caye just might be a little slice of paradise.
Tobacco Caye is a sleepy little island off the coast of the South American country of Belize, roughly 10 miles east of the city of Dangriga. The tiny island, which boasts a permanent population of 20, consists of several small hotels, a local bar, a restaurant and little else. It is possible for expedient walkers to circle the island in less than five minutes, according to Wikitravel.
Travelers can take a dip in the clear and cool waters just off the local piers, charter a boat to go snorkeling at nearby reefs and cayes, or explore the local waters with a rental at the islands lone dive shop.
The main reason to visit the island is the tremendously serene and calm surroundings, as the sandy beaches and plentiful hammocks make the island ideal for outdoor naps and sun bathing.
