  • San Diego is an up and coming cruise port

    2011-12-14

As the cruising industry continues to experience success throughout the world, new cities are opening ports of call for travelers to enjoy on their nautical vacation. One of these sunny spots is San Diego, which recently opened Port Pavilion on the Broadway Pier, reports Travel and Leisure.

Not only is this port a welcome addition to the city, but many of its services are LEED certified, meaning cruises can dock and use its environmentally friendly charging stations that help omit less harmful carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

San Diego is a beautiful destination to explore, whether travelers decide to take a cruise to the city or simply visit on their own. According to Fodor's, a must-see area of the city of Fiesta de Reyes, which is seemingly frozen in time to pay homage to California in the 1800s. Fortunate guests may witness a live mariachi band playing in the streets, or happen upon the stunning flora and fauna that grows native to this region, such as the hibiscus flower.
