Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, is a beautiful city, but most travelers will be drawn to the Old Town district, where the stunning historic buildings still stand.
The center of this part of the city is Old Town Square, a massive gathering place filled with shops, cafes, restaurants and more. In addition to the lovely architecture of this area, Old Town Square is typically considered to be the center of town, where most of the city's events take place.
Visitors to this area of the city should be sure to check out Tyn Church, a large and beautiful cathedral located just off the square. Architecture experts frequently cite it as an excellent example of the Gothic style. Other attractions include the wonderfully complex Astronomical Clock, famous for marking both the time and a number of other astrological phases.
Beyond that, travelers can just enjoy relaxing outside at one of the many restaurants located in the square. It's a pleasant place to sip a cup of coffee or take in a meal.
Travelers may also want to plan their trip around one of the many events that take place in Old Town Square. The big one is the Feast of St. Mikulas (St. Nicholas) on December 5th, where Santa Claus roams around the square handing out candy and small gifts to children.
