• Plan your summer vacation at one of these affordable destinations

    2017-06-09

It's never too early to begin booking your summer vacation. In fact, many travel experts recommend reserving your hotel room and airfare in the spring for the best deals. Although there's a seemingly endless number of ideal summer destinations to consider, there are a few notable locations that provide travelers with the most enticing rates for accommodation.

As you start to consider potential places to escape for the summer, look into one of these seasonal hotspots for a trip that's relaxing and budget-friendly.

    Wildwood, New Jersey
Because the Northeast isn't often the first destination that comes to mind when people think of warm weather, New Jersey may seem like a surprising suggestion. However, many Northeastern states are home to breathtaking beaches and sunshine once summer rolls in.

Conde Nast Traveler noted that last year, there were hotels in the coastal city of Wildwood offering rates as low as $144 per night. The majority of resorts are located right along the ocean and give off the quaint cottage vibe that's perfect for family vacations. The city also features a 38-block boardwalk with a variety of restaurants and activities for travelers of all ages.

    Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
According to U.S. News and World Report, Santo Domingo is the Caribbean's largest city with the perfect balance between the energetic, lively atmosphere of most cities and tropical, turquoise beaches. The Dominican Republic is known for being an affordable destination, with all-inclusive resorts that offer prices far less than those of hotels on neighboring islands.

Although there's a range of inexpensive hotels in Santo Domingo, TripAdvisor recommended the Hotel Villa Colonial for a luxury experience without the high prices. Recent guests raved about the resort's location tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, yet still within walking distance of the heart of the city.

    Charlotte, North Carolina
Charlotte is a great place to spend the summer with your family if you aren't looking to spend most of your time at the beach. However, if you're hoping to take a day trip to soak up rays, Myrtle Beach is only a 3-hour drive east.

As the state's largest and most exciting city, it features the majority of North Carolina's popular attractions. For example, Charlottesgotalot.com noted that the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art and the NASCAR Hall of Fame can be found in the city. The Hyatt Place Charlotte Downtown offers prices as low as $120 per night during the peak summer season. If you book now, you may be able to snag an even cheaper room.

    Morro Bay, California
Destinations like Los Angeles and San Diego are frequented by summer vacationers. Why not take a trip somewhere that offers the same experience without the massive crowds and sky-high prices? Morro Bay is one of California's most stunning beachside communities and is often considered the state's hidden gems, according to Budget Travel magazine.

Oceanfront eateries and hotels provide panoramas of Morro Bay and the Pacific Ocean a couple miles north. The online travel source also suggested staying at the Comfort Inn Downtown for a classy accommodation that's close to the beach and offers amenities such as complementary breakfast.
