• New travel apps lend a hand to last-minute travelers

    2015-09-25

Most frequent travelers know that there's no better way to book your flight or find accommodation than with the convenience of a smartphone. There are new apps available that will offer you useful travel tips when your next journey arises. According to CNN and U.S. News & World Report, these new apps can save you time and money, and eliminate some of the inconveniences often associated with frequent travel.

For travelers desperate for a hotel room
U.S. News recommended Roomer for last-minute travelers. It was launched in April 2014 and allows you to find and book hotel rooms from people who have a hotel reservation they no longer need but can't cancel. One of the greatest advantages of this system, besides the fact that it works in the favor of both parties, is that it often provides procrastinators with a room at significantly discounted prices.

The layout of the app is also extremely convenient, as it allows users to conduct searches by their destination, which makes the process as quick and painless as possible. You can even search by check-in and check-out dates to efficiently find what's available or refine your search by price or discount if you're on a tight budget, according to U.S. News.

    Jet lagged? No problem
CNN suggested Entrain, a new, innovative app that requires travelers to first input information regarding their sleeping habits, such as the time they usually wake up and go to bed, their time zone and the amount of light exposure they usually receive at home. The fun begins when users start a trip.

According to the news source, the app will recommend a lighting schedule that may help you get over jet lag faster than you normally would, as long as you follow the schedule carefully. For example, the app might advise complete darkness during the day or bright light at night based off of calculations it has made from the data you provided.

    Get the best bargains anywhere
Favado was launched by Savings.com in 2013. In a foreign country, especially one where you don't speak the language, it can be difficult to know what grocery or drug store has the most affordable items. The app allows you to compare prices of any specific item or brand you may need, or based on sales at nearby stores. You can even find coupons for additional savings, according to U.S. News. This is a great travel gadget when you're on a strict budget and can't afford to guess what store sells the cheapest food.
