Travelers who are going abroad may need anything that will help make their trip easier. Thankfully, in an effort to increase inbound tourism and boost the country's presence in the digital world, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) recently released a new mobile application that could be very beneficial to first-time visitors.
"Amazing Thailand" is available for download on the Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, as well as BlackBerry and Android mobile devices. Those who download the program will be able to search through the top 10 destinations in Thailand and find insider tips on where to go for dining, shopping and tourist attractions.
Other features of the app include the ability to share travel experiences through social media networks like Facebook and Twitter, more than 10,000 pages of information regarding festivals and other local happenings that can be found on an event calendar, and a location-based service that utilizes the built-in GPS on a smartphone to help tourists navigate to their chosen destination.
TAT has already achieved a bit of success with the recently launched app, gaining more than 12,000 fans on its Facebook profile.
