    2011-08-30

Travelers who visit Thailand should make time for the must-see region of Chiang Mai. This bustling province is pulsing with cultural attractions and wondrous architectural designs that portray the passion and soul of this beautiful Asian metropolis.

Those interested in ancient history can see some intriguing artifacts from the Thai natives at the Tribal Museum. According to Lonely Planet, the large collection of items include agricultural tools, jewelry and musical instruments. The views of the lakes in Suan Ratchamangkhala from the complex are also worth a look.

The most striking temple in town may be Wat Chiang Yeun, which was built more than 500 years ago. A highlight of the complex is the welcoming gate that is adorned with red and gold detailing.

For an evening of bargain hunting and exploration, families can visit the Chiang Mai night bazaar, Travel and Leisure reports. Every night, some streets downtown are closed off to motor vehicles to allow pedestrians free reign over the seemingly endless array of local vendors. Guests can purchase items such as custom paintings or silk lanterns.
