2013-02-14
Nearly every country you're bound to visit will claim it has some of the best beaches around, but a recent TripAdvisor survey bestows that honor on Italy. The website revealed that Rabbit Beach was voted as the best in the world after experts pored over millions of reviews and ratings from the website's users, reports Reuters.
The beach is located on the island of Lampedusa, which is situated just to the west of Sicily. Experts say they were not surprised by the results, given the beach's picturesque views and unrivaled natural beauty. It is particularly attractive for travelers who want to get away from big crowds and spend a day relaxing in the sand.
"Rabbit Beach is clearly a big hit with travelers and it's easy to see why with its stunning turquoise water and white sand," TripAdvisor spokeswoman Emma Shaw told Reuters.
While Rabbit Beach came out on top, it was not the only destination highlighted by TripAdvisor. Landing second place was Grace Bay in Turks and Caicos, while Whitehaven Beach in Queensland, Australia was in third. Brazil's Baia do Sancho and Flamenco Beach in Puerto Rico rounded out the top five.
