Holiday activities for couples and children in London
2010-12-01
London's West End is known to come alive during the holiday season, offering seasonal-themed entertainment for a wide variety of visitors. In Covent Garden, activities for couples and children abound, the New York Times reports.
Couples can enjoy the choral performances of Christmas music in the garden, and sample traditional wintertime cuisine of the region, including oysters and meat pies. They can also enjoy a traditional kiss under the mistletoe, enhanced with modern technology in this part of London. The main Christmas tree in Covent Garden has been programmed by engineer Paul Cocksedge to respond to human touch. When a couple locks lips, all of the LED lights on the 50-foot tree light up. The event is free and hosted nightly.
Children can participate in holiday activities in Covent Garden, too. There will be a petting station where kids can interact with reindeer, musical performances for children and families, storytelling and arts and crafts workshops, according to the news source.
Whether travelers are coming to London for a romantic holiday or for a family vacation, they will find something to entertain themselves with in the festive West End.
