Have an adventurous Hawaiian vacation with a Lost Tour
2010-02-01
As any fans of ABC's hit sci-fi drama Lost will tell you, the mysterious island
on which the show is set is a character unto itself. Over the past five seasons,
viewers have gotten an intimate view of the island's dense jungles and secluded
beaches, and a collection of Hawaiian tours provide adventurous tourists the
option of exploring them personally.
The show is primarily filmed on
Hawaii's third largest island and most popular tourist destination, Oahu.
Through clever set design and the island's own versatile appearance, the show
has used filming locations around Oahu to fill in for any number of locales
including New York, South Korea, Nigeria, the U.K., Paris, Germany and Iraq.
A number of local providers offer extensive tours of the many areas
frequented by the cast and crew, including the cast's base camp at Mokule'ia,
Desmond's military camp at Diamond Head Crater and the rocky shoreline of Lanai
Lookout.
Tours are available by bus, Humvee and helicopter, and can cost
anywhere between $100 and $1,000 depending on mode of travel and length of the
tour.
