2010-01-18

Across the globe, millions of travelers are preparing to descend upon the city
of Vancouver for the 2010 Winter Olympics. Though much time will undoubtedly be
spent watching their favorite events, Olympic travelers might be remiss if they
didn't visit nearby Granville Island, a place where visitors can get the "feel"
of the city, according to Vancouver-Travel-Tips.com.
Located on the
southern coastline, Granville Island is actually a Peninsula and plays home to a
bevy of attractions sure to draw tourists as well as native Vancouverites.
Visitors can drive or bike to Granville, or can hop on the brightly
colored Aquabus that provides a leisurely cruise to the island's attractions.
The first thing that tourists may notice is the abundance of stoic views as
Granville boasts iconic vantage points of the Burrard Street Bridge, False
Creek, Science World and the downtown area.
The area is home to two
performing arts theaters staging everything from improvisational comedy and
touring stand ups to traditional stage plays and writer workshops.
Granville Island also serves as a launching dock for luxurious dinner
cruises across Vancouver Harbor with ships leaving several times a day.
