It may be difficult for travelers to explore parts of the earth that are still isolated or untouched. However, those looking for a unique trip abroad could consider an excursion to Yemen. This nation is incredible in itself, but the Socotra Island region is where travelers can see some strange natural wonders and breathtaking landscapes that cannot be witnessed anywhere else in the world.
Most tourists will arrive to the island by plane because its rocky shores make it challenging to dock a boat, reports Matador. The accommodations and cuisine selections on Socotra are limited, but the big draw is the odd flora and fauna, of which many species that are unique only to this land mass. Tour groups equipped with Land Rovers will bring guests down winding roadways to see the odd mushroom-shaped frankincense trees and exotic birds.
According to the New York Times, although the coastline is rugged, it still is a beautiful place to visit for the craggy cliffs and spectacular views. Along the shore are some amazing opportunities for scuba diving as well, where travelers can check out sunken ships and colorful marine life.
