  • Explore the wonders of Marrakech, Morocco

    2011-09-28

Those who journey to Morocco should make a stop in the exotic and vibrant city of Marrakech. This gorgeous destination will surely provide a memorable experience on a girl's getaway to a new and thrilling location.

The first place travelers should visit in the Ben Youssef Medersa, which used to be the site of a boarding school in the 16th century. Nowadays, according to Frommer's, this complex is intricately detailed, down to the columned arcades in the striking courtyard area.

A visit to the marketplace is oftentimes a memorable adventure in Marrakech, reports World Travel Guide. The winding "souks," or narrow streets, are packed with colorful vendors and stalls holding items such as spices, slippers and leather products. Experts say travelers should explore on their own and not fall into a trap of guides pushing certain products.

Travelers who want to enjoy the wonders of Marrakech should be cautious with where they keep their belongings. Valuables in general may want to be left at home, as sometimes items may be taken from backpack, purses or hotel rooms if travelers are not careful.
