The tourism industry thrives on major events occurring in their countries, and after Qatar won the bid to host the FIFA World Cup championship games in 2022 this week, the Arab country has caught the eye of potential travelers. CNN recently published a list of their top destinations to explore in Qatar to help curious vacationers navigate its finest spots.
Al-Corniche is a four-mile road along the eastern border, providing beautiful views of the Indian Ocean. While it is a busy, six-lane street, visitors can take a stroll along the shoreline and view some of the most innovative architecture that the country has to offer.
Shoppers should visit Souq Waqif, which has some of the best shops and wholesale markets, according to travel agent Lindsey Wallace. Take home souvenirs like homemade garments, perfumes, crafts and more.
On the western coast is Bir Zekreet, a beach perfect for a lazy day in the sun and for a camping trip, as well. Tourists will be able to see the large, picturesque sand dunes, desert mushrooms, and perhaps even the wild deer who have a home at a nearby reserve.
