Cruisers can step back in time and ride along America's waterways by steamboat on their next trip. This unique excursion has been seen a lot in cruise news lately, as many travelers are choosing vacations closer to home and within the country, but still hoping to have an interesting and unique experience.
Recently, The American Queen took a trip up the Mississippi for the first time in 4 years. Officials in charge of the steamboat say they hope to bring back the popularity of overnight cruises on these historical and interesting vessels.
Upon arriving at its final destination in Memphis, the ship was greeted by locals and visitors alike who were excited to be offered trips on the American Queen again. Cruises can last a few days or a couple of weeks, and follow routes along the Mississippi and Ohio rivers, stopping in cities such as Louisville, Kentucky, and Cincinnati, Ohio.
Riverboat and steamboat cruises can be a wonderful choice for families, couples or friends to try something new while cruising and seeing the sights along the way. Many of these excursions are also wallet-friendly and can provide the same or similar amenities offered on any bigger liner.
