Vacations are often a great time to reconnect with family members, whether its a small family vacation or full scale family reunion. They're also about sharing new experiences together, and it doesn't get much more unique than wading through a bog in Estonia.
According to the New York Times, a bog trek is fun for the whole family, simply because everyone will have a ball watching the others attempt to stay on their feet. The travel writer for the news source took his family on a trip through a bog at Lahemaa National Park, just west of Tallinn, and reported that the entire crew enjoyed it.
"This is like walking on a giant sponge!" said his daughter, Danya.
Hikers in Lahemaa could easily get around on the many walkways that are set up around the park, but its more fun to strap on special bog shoes and go wading into the water, which is filled with wild cranberries.
Although the family fell over multiple times, the writer said that the trip was a success, based on the fact that the trip "covered nearly three miles in more than three hours, and the children uttered not a single complaint." However, he did have one suggestion -bring extra socks.
