• Bike tours a popular travel option

    2012-08-24

Travelers searching for a unique perspective on their destination cities should look into bike tours. With lower costs than traditional travel methods, biking can save travelers money while providing breathtaking scenic panoramas and heart pumping exercise.

Those who enjoy Europe travel can partake in bike tours of any skill level or length quite easily. Spending a few hours on a guided bike tour is fairly common in larger metropolitan areas such as London, Paris or Copenhagen but tours are not limited to just cities. Several companies offer trips into the European countryside, with options to pedal through olive groves in Italy or along the coast of the Mediterranean in France.

While the popularity of bicycles in Europe is well documented, other areas around the world have begun to embrace the mode of transportation as well. The United States recently approved new bicycle routes in several states, and fans of Australia & New Zealand travel are also branching out into this adventurous activity.

Before deciding to bike through a new destination, be sure to check out specialized biking guidebooks and research rental locations in the destination city. Take practice trips locally before venturing out into an unknown region and stock up on maps and lightweight camping gear in preparation for the elements.

Biking may not be for every traveler, but for those willing to try, it can be an extremely rewarding experience.
