  • One Day on Kilimanjaro

Weather had been rough as we climbed Kilimanjaro, but it came to a head when snow at Volcano Camp broke the dining tent where the porters slept. The outfitter was unprepared for the '20 year snowstorm'. The porters, lacking sunglasses or tent, quit. We were evacuated off the mountain on day 6 of a 9 day itinerary. Our outfitter graciously arranged for an unplanned safari trip to fill the unexpected three days--charging us only his cost. When we returned home, I filed a claim for the extra cost for those three days of unexpected safari. The Travel Guard representative asked "don't you want to file for the three days of the trek that you missed?" We did and they refunded part of the cost of the Kilimanjaro climb in addition to the unplanned safari expenses. We've stuck with Travel Guard since and they've come through when we needed them more than once.

  • A Test in Thailand

I was traveling by myself to Bangkok, Thailand from Johnson City, TN. Our daughter was going to have our second granddaughter there so I was going to visit her and help with our 2-year -old granddaughter and help when the new baby arrived.

While I was there I accidentally fell and I had some concerns about my shoulder. So I decided to visit a doctor to have it checked out. I contacted Travel Guard to see what procedures I should follow. During that call as well other calls the person I was talking to was very friendly and helpful. It can be somewhat stressful to have to deal with unexpected situations while in a foreign country. It was nice to have someone to contact to help guide me through the process. I was especially pleased that there was a follow-up call to check on how I was doing.

The representatives that I dealt with at Travel Guard were very helpful and professional and I would definitely recommend your services to family and friends.

  • Costa Rica Catastrophe

My wife and I had planned a ten-day trip to Costa Rica over the New Year. We are avid photographers and had a very detailed itinerary starting within an hour of our arrival. We had booked a trip through an in-country organization which we always prefer to someone who books trips from elsewhere. Our flight was scheduled to leave on a Thursday and we were traveling from Boston to San Juan with a 90-minute stopover in Charlotte. The weather had been very bad that week and I called the airlines shortly before our morning flight was to leave to insure that flights were leaving as scheduled. I was assured that there were no weather-related delays expected.

We arrived at the airport well before the flight, and we waited until boarding started. We boarded the flight and the engines started - I looked at my wife with a sense of relief. Just then, there was an announcement that there was a "mechanical problem" - nothing to do with the weather. We were assured it would be fixed within "minutes," but after 30 minutes there had been no update. We waited another 60 minutes, at which point the captain said they were going to "reboot" the plane - that took about 2 minutes and he announced we were ready to go. But just at that moment, an announcement came that the following passengers were to get off the plane! And of course, that included us. The problem was, we had already missed the flight in Charlotte, even before leaving the ground, and the airline didn't want to have to put us up in Charlotte for the night.

As we were leaving the plane, I called the airlines on my cell and made reservations for the next day on the fight out of Charlotte and also got us on a flight to Charlotte for later that same day. We got down to Charlotte that night - had a great stay at an airport hotel, and we were off the next day for San Jose. Of course, by that time we had missed our first night in Costa Rica and all the activities for that first day, none of which could be refunded. So Travel Guard stepped in once we got home and quickly and efficiently reimbursed us for the pre-paid and non-refundable portions of that first missed day of our trip. Thanks for that.

    -Dennis M.

  • What an Amazing Service!

What AMAZING service. I ordered my policy quickly and efficiently with excellent customer service. I also used the web to modify my existing policy. Again, efficient and excellent customer service. Hard to come by these days. I THANK YOU!

  • Travel Guard was Amazing

If there is anywhere that I could helpfully write a review of your service, I would like you to let me know. We purchased a 1 year medical trip insurance plan. During a 10 day trip to Paris my husband had to go into the hospital where he spent 7 days in the ICU. While were still in Paris Travel Guard was wonderfully helpful. They spoke to the doctors, they arranged to cancel the airline tickets we could not use, they took care of the new reservations, they gave me comfort and support that was so reassuring. And when it came time to return home, Travel Guard with the doctor's consultation, decided my husband should have stand-by oxygen so they sent a nurse who flew from Miami and accompanied us to the door of our home in the US. She and my husband flew business class, and we were met by cars and drivers along the way. I never saw a ticket or a bill for these services. The kindness and support of everyone I had contact with at Travel Guard was amazing. I paid the hospital bill with my credit card, but Travel Guard promptly repaid us for all our medical expenditures after we submitted receipts. Having a medical emergency away from home is a frightening experience, but Travel Guard provided us with more support than I ever would have expected. I cannot recommend this company more strongly.

  • Concierge Planning Makes A Good Vacation, Great!

Scott A. and his wife where traveling in Italy for their 25th wedding anniversary. During their 2-week vacation, they planned to see sites in Rome, Sienna, Tuscany, Venice, Cinque Terre, Lake Como and Milan. They wanted to make the most of each hour, but how would that be entirely possible with so much the to see and do – not to mention the language barrier? For them, the answer was simple - enlist the help of the concierge department at Travel Guard.

"Our whole trip was planned by the concierge department, down to the hour – including where we would eat," said Scott. "The concierge department coordinated the purchase of tickets to the Vatican and also booked planes, cars, trains and a gondola. They even checked hotel availabilities - they knew how to book the things we needed so we didn't have to." Through email interaction, the couple was able to work with Travel Guard to view things they might be interested in seeing while in Italy. All they needed to do was say the word, and Travel Guard would book everything for them. From booking tickets to events to church tours and reservations for a boat tour on Lake Como. Travel Guard' concierge department even broke down the language barrier to get the couple safely to their hotel in Venice.

"When we got to Venice, we didn't have a car but a local was nice enough to point us in the direction of the hotel – unfortunately we didn't speak Italian," said Scott. "So, following his gestures, we made our way to an area over a bridge with at least 7 small alleyways which made it confusing to find our hotel. There were no directional signs or flashing lights with the hotel's name on it, like in America. But luckily, with one call to Travel Guard's concierge department, they were able to pinpoint where we were on the map and call the hotel to send out a person to find us and lead us back to our hotel's location. I'm convinced we would have never found this tucked away location on our own." Throughout the course of their trip Travel Guard's concierge didn't disappoint. When they missed a train, the concierge department worked to get them a new ticket. Just before the couple was ready to go home, the concierge department was able to find a little Italian restaurant with amazing food just outside the Milan airport which was frequented mostly by locals. They also were able to book a ride from the restaurant to the airport to go home.

"Travel Guard's concierge department had the expertise to get us the resources we needed while on a trip," said Scott. "Sure, we could've read a book or scoured the internet to plan our trip, but with concierge services available through a Travel Guard plan all the trip coordinating and event booking was done for us. [All we had to do] was specify ticket types and what we wanted to see. We had time to do other things while they planned and coordinated our trip on our behalf. Travel insurance coverage is important, but the services provided are just as valuable to help you have a great experience on vacation."

    -Scott A.

  • I highly recommend Travel Guard

"A day before returning back from Italy, my husband and I found that our connecting flight was cancelled because of a strike in Madrid. The airline re-booked my husband on one airline and me on another, with an overnight stay in Madrid. I tried reaching the airlines by phone [so we could coordinate our trip back on the same flight]; we even went to the airport personally, all to no avail. Our needs weren’t being accommodated. Finally, I called Travel Guard’s travel assistance center. Travel Guard’s representative took over and within a couple of hours, she was able to schedule us on the same flight on the day we had originally planned to return. We were able to enjoy the little time we had left without the stress and worry that we had previously experienced. I will highly recommend Travel Guard."

  • Travel Guard is the best

"I recently took a downhill mountain bike trip to Whistler, Canada. I decided to get a travel insurance plan just in case I had an accident. Of course, I did [have an accident] - cracked ribs, fractured collarbone and a broken bike. But, Travel Guard was awesome. I submitted all my paperwork and a couple weeks later I got a check in the mail. It's very nice that you can get coverage for "extreme" sports through Travel Guard. [A travel insurance plan] helps make me feel safer while traveling on ski/mountain bike adventures. Thanks again and Go Packers!"

  • Thank you- our team members view you as second to none

"During a recent mission trip to the D.R. Congo, our team was harassed during early morning hours by gunfire from a group of rebels or corrupt military. Uncertainty and fear abounded for a period of 12 to 15 hours. The action caused us to attempt coordination with a rescue organization. Eventually we lost and had to reschedule our transportation arrangements for return to the U.S five days later. Before initiating steps to evacuate, the rescue group required a pre-payment of $200,000. To be brief about an otherwise prolonged and trying experience, Travel Guard determined that payment to the rescue organization could be arranged. After many hours of satellite phone calls and unsuccessful appeals to the U.S. Embassy, the decision to assist by Travel Guard came as a blessing, greatly eased the level of concern by team members and initiated evacuation planning. Thank you- our team members view you as second to none."

  • I would never consider travelling again without travel insurance.

I was in South Africa on safari. On the first evening of the safari I fell while out in the bush. I broke my ankle in two places and required surgery. Upon my release from the hospital I contacted Travel Guard. They immediately assigned a claim number and started working on revised travel plans to get me home. Due to my injury, I was required to keep my leg elevated at all times. Travel Guard arranged for my husband and I to travel home in business class so this was possible. Upon my return home I submitted all medical bills to their claims department. All covered expenses were paid within 30 days. I would never consider travelling again without travel insurance. Thank you Travel Guard!

  • I would highly recommend them to everyone!

My wife and I were enjoying a vacation to Barbados when she became ill. After a couple of trips to the clinic in Barbados we decided to cut our trip short. Travel Guard took care of everything they said they would in a very timely manner. I have used Travel Guard many times and I would highly recommend them to everyone!

    -Gary Y., Ames, IA

  • I wouldn't travel without them!

Two years ago my husband and I were traveling in India. The day of our planned departure, the airline emailed that the flight to Washington DC was cancelled (it was the winter of "Snowmageddon', when Washington was closed down for days). The airline said they could only rebook us on a flight A WEEK LATER! We had to get back home much sooner than that, so I called Travel Guard from a pay phone. The people I spoke with couldn't have been nicer or more competent. I was immediately connected with an agent who worked with me to find alternate flights. He was able to get us a flight home on another airline leaving that day. The reimbursement for the new ticket was sent promptly after I submitted the documentation. This was the second time Travel Guard came to our rescue when we were abroad, and I wouldn't travel without them! I especially like talking to good old Americans on the phone--don't ever outsource them!

    -Joan K., Bethesda, MD

  • We will always travel with Travel Guard

We arrived at the airport in Venice, Italy early in the morning to start our flights back to Tucson, AZ. When we reached the airline desk the agent said that our ticket was booked out of Rome! I was flabbergasted because I made the same reservations as our traveling companions who were already checked in. Then I remembered that I made the reservations the same day that our airline provider had a big computer glitch.

Yikes - and I hadn't double checked every leg of the reservation. I asked what I could do and the agent sent me to their ticket window. The clerk there tried to help but she said it had to be corrected through our airline carrier. She gave me numerous telephone numbers to try in the U.S. and in Italy. I went to the credit card phones and started trying to reach someone to assist us. I couldn't get through to our airline provider in the US, and I kept getting disconnected with the other numbers. The international operator said my credit card was used too many times in a row and that it was now locked out. Could this get any worse??

Then I remembered Travel Guard and when I called them, I reached a live person!! I was transferred to a representative who figured out what we needed to do and she was able to connect me to an airline agent who to fixed the problem. We made our original connections! I could have hugged our Travel Guard representative right through the telephone lines!! We will always travel with Travel Guard. You are an amazing company and saved us from sleeping in the Venice Airport!

    - Candy and Doug A., Tucson AZ

  • I will continue to use Travel Guard exclusively

A week before my planned trip to Morocco, I fell off my bike and broke my elbow. Thankfully, I had purchased Travel Guard Insurance, so I called to cancel my trip. The Travel Guard representative was super. She went over all the claims instructions on the phone and also sent me the proper forms. I was told the claim would be about a month to process. Before the month was out, I had a reimbursement check for the trip and the airfare. Needless to say, I was thrilled. I have booked another trip and used Travel Guard. I am now retired, so I will be traveling more. I will continue to use Travel Guard exclusively.

  • Travel Guard is an A+ company

All homecomings are sweet, but especially when going home means traveling overseas to that special destination where you grew up. Such was the case of Isabel M. - a native of the Philippines. Isabel, currently residing in Minnesota with her husband, had traveled to her homeland to celebrate her two-year-old daughter's birthday.

Unfortunately, the joy of their homecoming was met with uncertainty and fear when Isabel's daughter had a difficult time adapting to the hot, humid weather and local food and water. As her dehydration increased, Isabel made a phone call to her husband, John, back in Minnesota. The phone call confirmed the worst – their little girl couldn't keep anything down, would not eat or drink and her eyes were becoming glossy as she rapidly lost weight. The couple admitted her to the hospital immediately where she received the treatment she needed. Thankfully, mother and daughter had a travel insurance plan and Travel Guard's 24/7 assistance team was able to assist them with 24/7 medical assistance every step of the way. Their daughter recovered completely.

Upon returning home, John contacted Travel Guard and said, "I felt as if I was literally talking to our neighbor next door. Travel Guard was very professional, courteous and genuinely concerned about the welfare of my daughter. My daughter's condition improved after about four days in the hospital. We submitted all hospital and doctor bills to Travel Guard and received reimbursement about three weeks later. I strongly recommend Travel Guard to anyone traveling overseas, especially with children. We're going to Canada later this month and will surely purchase a travel insurance plan from you. Travel Guard is an A+ company with outstanding customer service. Thank you very much."

  • I would highly recommend Travel Guard.

My two year old daughter was recently hospitalized in the Philippines with a serious case of dehydration. We purchased insurance through Travel Guard. Minutes after I contacted them explaining what happened they gave me a case number and immediately began working on our case and were with us every step of the way. Your staff was very professional and courteous. We received full reimbursement for all covered medical bills in about three weeks. I would highly recommend Travel Guard. Any future travel plans will include Travel Guard. Thank you.

    John and Isabel M. Minnesota

  • She immediately knew she had broken her leg...

Ann S. of Bellevue, Washington was traveling with friends to vacation in Cambodia and Thailand. Their plan included private tours, visiting various temples, markets, taking cooking class and shopping.

After traveling from the U.S. to Bangkok, they arrived in Siem Reap, Cambodia and headed out of the lobby of their hotel to visit the local market. As they were walking down a series of shallow steps Anne caught her left heel on one of the last steps and rolled to the ground. Though her fall was graceful, she immediately knew she had broken her leg.

"My left foot was jutting out sideways,” said Anne. "Within seconds there were a half-dozen Cambodians lifting me into a van and I was taken to the hospital. The accident was horrific but there wasn't any pain, at first. The first thing that the doctors asked me in the ER was, ‘Do you have travel insurance?’ I have never been so happy to say, ‘YES’!"

Initial x-rays showed a dislocation of the left foot, crushed fibula and fractured tibia. Anne was whisked into the surgery room to adjust her ankle into the right position. But after it was back in place it was determined she quickly needed additional surgery.

"The hospital wanted to fly in an experienced surgeon from Phnom Penh , Capital of Cambodia,” explained Anne. "Fortunately, through my Travel Guard insurance plan, this was possible. It is my understanding, that other companies might have required me to fly to Bangkok or Singapore for the surgery. Even with the nine hour time change and language differences, Travel Guard coordinated everything with professionalism and ease.”

The next day a surgeon was flown in, and operated on Anne. She now had a plate and six screws in her fibula, four pins in the tibia and her leg was splinted and wrapped in a bandage. Three days later, with permission from her doctor, she and her friends continued on to Thailand for the remainder of their vacation. Anne had a walker, crutches and rented a wheel chair along the way.

"I was carried up into planes by airport security guards. I was pushed through the markets of Chaing Mai in a wheel chair, to gather food, for a cooking class. I was pushed through the Elephant Park and fed the elephants! I didn't miss much! We made it back home flying first class with my traveling companion for assistance, as ordered by the doctor. These travel expenses were covered by my travel insurance plan through Travel Guard.”

  • Passport Pass-off

Jill W. and her family of Minnesota were going on a trip to Curacao. Their daughter, Lindsey, who was away at college in Denver, Colorado, was also going on the trip. The family all met up in Minneapolis to fly to the Miami airport and board a plane there which would take them to Curacao. Unfortunately, after Lindsey met up with her family, she realized she had left her passport back in Denver! How would she be able to go to Curacao with the rest o the family if she didn't have her passport?

Fortunately, they had a travel insurance plan – and Lindsey had a helpful roommate. Lindsey's roommate brought the passport to the Denver airport where Travel Guard representatives were able to work with airline personnel to have Lindsey's passport flown to the Miami airport where the family was waiting. The passport arrived just in time so that the family could board their flight to Curacao and enjoy their vacation.

After the ordeal, Jill contacted Travel Guard and said, "Crisis averted thanks to Travel Guard. We will never travel without you."

  • An Outstanding Job

Mike B. had his trip to the Philippines all planned. Suddenly before he was to leave, he experienced back pain and needed to cancel his trip. Fortunately, he had a travel insurance plan through Travel Guard.

With one call to Travel Guard, Mike was able to cancel his trip. Upon the completing of his cancellation transaction, Mike said, "your representative did an outstanding job assisting me. I had been having trouble cancelling my trip but your service was accommodating, professional and your representative provided a simple, clear and concise answer to all my questions."

Despite being upset at the fact he could no longer go on his trip, Mike was very grateful for the service Travel Guard provided.

  • Missing Suitcase

Mary and her husband of San Francisco, California had just gotten back from a three-week trip to Europe.

"We took a wonderful river cruise on the Rhine River from Amsterdam to Switzerland at Christmas. Then we spent an exciting week in Rome for New Years," said Mary.

On their way back, from London to San Francisco, they arrived in New York to catch a connection when they noticed that Mary’s suitcase was missing. Why her luggage was missing and her husband’s wasn’t was anyone’s guess, since they were checked at the same time. Mary was understandably frustrated because she had waited so long for her luggage that it caused her to miss her flight home and spend a night in New York.

Luckily, Mary had a travel insurance plan through Travel Guard.

"When I got home to San Francisco I called Travel Guard because I could not get through to a live person at the airline," said Mary. "Travel Guard was able to trace the luggage, advise me of its location and estimated delivery time. They also followed up with daily phone calls until my luggage was delivered to my home. I have used Travel Guard for my last three trips because I like the personal service they provide."

    - Mary, San Francisco, California

  • Excellent Customer Service

I wanted to offer my gratitude for your company's excellent customer service and rapid disposition with my claim. I can only imagine what it must have been like to work so hard during the Hurricane Irene claim influx!! It is reassuring to know that my hard-earned money was saved through your travel insurance plan. Thanks and I am grateful!!

  • To All My Friends at Travel Guard

As the New Year approaches, it is time for a reflection and giving thanks for all that has happened this past year. This story would have been very different if it was not for the care and support that we received from the team at Travel Guard. When John had his heart attack on board the Nieuw Amsterdam and we were stranded in Corfu, Greece, my first phone call was to Travel Guard and from that moment on I never felt stranded. 24/7 support was a phone call away. While I sat at my husband's bedside, fighting for appropriate care and support for him, I had a staff fighting behind the scenes to get us to a better place. Friends marvel at the courage that I displayed as I navigated the medical world in a foreign country but little did they know how frequently I was on the verge of falling apart when I would get a phone call updating me on the progress that Travel Guard was making on our behalf. Those phone calls gave me the strength to be positive with John that we were going to get out of this mess and that he needed to hold on and stay with me.
Since we arrived home, I have been a walking advertisement for Travel Guard. I tell everyone about how amazing the staff was in supporting us; about the communication; about the conference calls that you arranged with my other carrier; about the great effort that was made on our behalf; and about the connections that I made with people that I had never met.
As for John, he is amazingly doing very well. We spent a wonderful Christmas with our friends and family and gave thanks to all of the people who helped us get to this point. John has no residual negative effects from the heart attack and stroke. We are now on a three month watch with our cardiologist – a far cry from the night that we flew home from Athens.
Although I am a bit leery of venturing too far from home, when I am ready, I know that I will always travel with Travel Guard in hand. You were there for us every step of the way and I will be eternally grateful for your kindness and concern as well as the professional expertise that you demonstrated throughout this emergency.

-Charlotte and John M., Brooklyn, NY

  • Covered in Cabo

Cheryl and her daughter, Katharine, were on their way to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico to celebrate Katharine's high school graduation. The pair was excited to enjoy the trip, but within hours of landing at their destination, Katharine became ill.

"She started vomiting that night, and continued through the next day," said Cheryl. "She was so sick, that I called the hotel's doctor, who came to our hotel room, saw how dehydrated she was, and personally drove us to the local emergency room."

At the hospital they hooked Katharine up to fluids and did many blood tests, but still couldn't make a diagnosis. Later that night she was released from the hospital even though she was still sick. Cheryl knew they shouldn't continue their vacation, so she booked a flight home for the next morning which cost $1,500.

Thankfully, they had a Travel Guard plan and one phone call connected them with a representative who recommended a good hospital in the area, arranged medical bill payment via Spanish translator and help Cheryl begin the claims process for her lost vacation investment and the airline tickets home.

Upon their return, Cheryl said, "I traveled around the world many times with my family and never purchased a travel insurance plan, and never needed it. This was the first time I bought travel insurance, and to this day, I don't know what made me buy it. If I had not purchased the travel insurance, this trip would have cost me thousands of dollars that I don't have. I will never travel again without a Travel Guard plan, and I will definitely spread the word about the incredible service I received from everybody at Travel Guard."

  • Thank you for providing excellent, quality travel service.

My mom and I were on vacation in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, where my mom broke her pelvis due to being knocked down by a swinging automatic door in a mall. It was the last day of our tour and we were due to fly back to my mom's home in Florida next day. Mom couldn't fly commercially due to her injury since she couldn't sit upright, stand, transfer in and out of a wheelchair or walk. She needed to be transported via medical air transport back to Florida and admitted to a hospital near her home so her sister, who lives in the area, could get to the hospital and see to her care.

To make this happen, complicated arrangements needed to be coordinated. Your impact on mom's medical situation was tremendous. There was no way she could remain in Halifax, nor was there any way I could stay there. We have no family members or friends who reside there or anywhere near there. Mom needed to go back to Florida, and you saw to it that she got there - in a timely manner, safely, and with care, courtesy and consideration for our situation.

I honestly didn't expect our request to be handled as quickly and as much in accordance with our needs as it actually was. Thank you for providing excellent, quality travel service. Ours was a complicated case, but I'm sure you have many of those. You do an excellent job, and I will recommend your service to anyone who inquires. Once again, thank you!!!

    - Mother and Daughter, traveling in Canada

  • Thanks for your great service!

This is the very first time I purchased a travel insurance plan and I am very pleased to have chosen Travel Guard. Your representatives were very helpful and my claim was processed promptly. Thanks for your great service! I plan on purchasing one of your travel insurance plans again in a few months.

  • Calamity urges cruise cancellation

Ron and Lisa C. and their family of Pennsylvania were planning a relaxing week-long cruise. With port calls in Hamilton and beaches of St. George the family was looking forward to all that Bermuda had to offer – including sightseeing, shopping and snorkeling.

Suddenly, a few days before the family was to depart, Lisa received word that her father had unexpectedly passed away. The funeral was the day before they were to leave for their vacation and the family, who was understandably grieving, needed to cancel their trip. Given the situation, the last thing they wanted to worry about was how to recover their trip investment. Thankfully, they were covered by a travel insurance plan through Travel Guard.

Travel Guard took charge of the family’s cancelled plans and worked to see that they recieved reimbursement for the pre-paid, non-refundable portions of their trip so that they were able to take the trip a couple of weeks later. Upon reimbursement, Ron called Travel Guard and said, "Travel Guard is like a breath of fresh air in today’s world. I can’t believe how smoothly the process went and how quickly I was reimbursed. I am recently retired, but spent over 40 years in business operations including many years involved in customer service. Your process is simple, easy to use and your customer service reps could not have been more responsive and helpful."

  • Professional, Capable and Unfailingly Polite

Just wanted to write and say how grateful I am to Travel Guard for the incredible service I received. I was flying to a photography workshop in Florence, Italy. But, during a layover in Amsterdam, I became very ill and had to be taken to a hospital for a week.

My luggage went on to Florence without me and your staff was able to track it down and get it returned to Mobile, AL. Every person at Travel Guard I spoke with while in the hospital and after was professional, capable and unfailingly polite. Travel Guard hired a Dutch EMT to escort me home, and I am extremely grateful for that service as he made it possible for me to avoid long customs lines and made a long flight safer and much easier given that I was very weak.

I am grateful for the service in getting me reimbursed for the trip, workshop and the medical expenses. I was reimbursed in full. I have told everyone I know about how wonderful Travel Guard has been and even posted it on Facebook as I want my friends to be covered the way I was.

Thank you again for everything, this experience would have been devastating if not for you. As long as I can get Travel Guard I will be confident while travelling.

    -Laura W.

  • Thank you for your care.

I commend your company for its fine service. I recommended you to our son who will be making plans to visit India this summer. Even though he is young, we have experienced that travel insurance is just invaluable. Thank you for your care.

    -Mary L.

  • A stinging surprise

We just wanted to say thank you. We purchased one of your insurance plans for a trip to Mexico, never expecting to need the medical coverage. But then, my husband Steve spent two days in a Mexican hospital because of a toxic sea urchin sting. The whole ordeal was scary, but when we contacted Travel Guard to help, you were helpful, reassuring, kind and ready to take control of the situation. Travel Guard was always one step ahead of what we thought we would need. The minute we told you our problem you reassured us you would take care of everything.
We felt like we were your only client and your top priority. You truly do stand by your word! I can't imagine traveling without you. Everyone should know about you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

    - Susan and Steve T., Wisconsin

  • You have made me a lifelong customer!

  • It was covered!

Before Mary Jo P. was to leave on a cruise she received word that the cruise was cancelled due to mechanical problems. The cruise line offered her another trip, free of charge if she vacationed within a certain time period. But, what about her unused airfare? That’s when she called Travel Guard who said her unused airfare and the airfare change fee to go on the cruise on a different date, were covered.

"I'd flagged my calendar to follow up with Travel Guard a month after my claim submission, but before that day occurred; I got a check for the full amount requested," said Mary Jo. "The unused airfare and airfare change request were covered under the Trip Interruption benefit. I feel much better about the insurance I've paid for over the years!"

  • I could not be more satisfied!

Liz H. of Montana was returning from a trip to South Africa. Back in the United States at JFK International Airport, someone mistook Elizabeth’s bags as their own, which caused Elizabeth to call Travel Guard for assistance in getting her luggage back.

When Liz received her luggage, she called saying:

“Not only did Travel Guard stay in touch to assist me in getting my luggage back, but they even Fed Ex’d my luggage to my home in Montana. I could not be more satisfied!”

Elizabeth noted that she travels regularly and is looking forward to using Travel Guard each and every time she travels in the future!

  • Eating off the Ship

I was in Aruba and my husband and I were eating at a restaurant. I had grouper with stuffed salmon. The next day I got on the ship and I started feeling really sick. I went to the ship doctor and by that time I was very ill with stomach pains. The doctor gave me medicine and I went to bed the first night of the cruise but by the next day I had spiked a fever. The nurse came to my office and gave me a shot. It turned out I had gotten food poisoning at the restaurant. I was in bed for two days. My bill came to $300 and I sent in claim to Travel Guard and I was reimbursed the full amount within 6 weeks. Travel Guard was wonderful!

  • Our daughter was very sick in a small hospital in Cameroon

Our daughter was very sick in a small hospital in Cameroon, Africa for three days. Travel Guard personnel communicated daily with the doctors there and phoned us to give us a report. Our daughter's comment was that we knew more about how she was doing than she did! We travel regularly and usually buy our travel insurance through Travel Guard. Our traveling friends were very happy to hear of our Travel Guard experience. We all pay a lot of money for your insurance plans, rarely knowing (luckily) whether the price is worth it but your service was prompt and personalized, with out any hassle. We will continue to use Travel Guard in the future.

  • Cruisin' to Savings

Charles N. of Kansas City, Missouri had everything planned. He and his two traveling companions were going on an unforgettable Alaskan cruise tour complete with days of exploring the Alaskan wilderness and panoramic view of the picturesque coast.

If it was all the excitement or something else we may never know, but as soon as Charles arrived at the airport, he suddenly passed out. Fortunately, his traveling companions got him help and to a hospital quickly. Unfortunately, his long-planned for trip was history. But what about the expensive investment he had made in his trip? The airline and cruise tickets weren’t cheap – could he recoup the cost? With a Travel Guard plan, he could. One simple call to Travel Guard got the ball rolling. Within a couple of weeks, Charles was reimbursed for his unused flight tickets, and the cost of the cruise and tour.

  • Thank you a thousand times over!

I cannot think of anything you did not take care of. If I were to make a major trip like that in the future, I would not imagine doing so without the assurances Travel Guard provides - and provides very well. Thank you a thousand times over.

  • It was so reassuring...

The promptness and open communication between the doctors and Travel Guard enabled me to rest easy and deal with being delayed in a hospital. All of your efforts to keep our family back in the US informed were wonderful. Thank you to everyone who worked in your 24-hour assistance center during that time – it was so reassuring to have assistance available at all times. I truly felt my health was a major concern of your company.

  • That's when they contacted Travel Guard...

Jeanne and her traveling partner Sherri were enjoying all that India had to offer. The most challenging part of their trip? Plans to journey through the Himalayas. Just as they thought their trip couldn’t get much better, a snow storm interrupted their trek, causing a mountain pass to become impassable. Who would reimburse them for the missed parts of their trip? That’s when they contacted Travel Guard. The insurance they had purchased through Travel Guard was able to reimburse them for the change fee to get home, the missed tour and even the taxi fare! Upon their arrival home, Jeanne e-mailed Travel Guard and said, “In a day when apathy reigns, Travel Guard proved to us there are still employees who care about their job and their customers.”

  • We were experienced travelers, what could possibly go wrong?

Our trip to Europe went off without a hitch. But, no sooner had we landed back in New York than we received word that our connecting flight had been delayed until the next day due to severe weather. We were given a number to call the next morning to be sure their flight was still taking off at the announced time unfortunately, when we dialed the number there was only a recording that didn’t give us the confirmation we needed. That’s when we phoned Travel Guard who worked with the airline to coordinate an alternate flight for us. Other people were yelling around in the airport and were frustrated with their flight situation. Meanwhile we were working with Travel Guard who was like an angel watching over us! I don’t know what I would have done without them!

  • The last thing I expected was to be admitted to the hospital…

But while on a semester abroad in Thailand, I needed immediate medical attention. Thankfully, when I sought help, Travel Guard was there to coordinate an emergency evacuation to get me safely home. Travel Guard was such a pleasure to work with and I look forward to telling other travelers about your company in the future!

  • We needed to cancel our trip.

My husband and I were minutes away from setting sail to Cozumel, Mexico. The farthest thing from my mind was using our travel insurance plan. Suddenly my husband collapsed and needed immediate medical attention. An ambulance ride and hospital stay later we learned he had an isolated seizure. While we may never know what brought on this sudden turn of events, one thing that remained certain was the help Travel Guard could provide us. Travel Guard secured hotel accommodations for me while my husband was hospitalized and also negotiated with our airline to book an early flight home.

  • Home for the Holidays

Cheryl M. of California was off to visit family in Canada on what was sure to be a spectacular Holiday vacation. It was evening when her plane landed and her hopes were set high as she thought of her warm homecoming and spending time with loved ones.

Exiting the plane she could feel the spirit of the holiday season in the air. As she went to pick up her luggage at the carousel, children were running around - all aglow with the excitement of the festive season as their parents looked on. People came and went from the carousel until every bit of luggage was gone. But where were her belongings?

Cheryl's heart skipped a beat when she realized that her vital prescription medications were also packed in her luggage - which was nowhere in sight. It was late and the pharmacies would surely be closed by now! And, even if they were open, in Canada she knew that she would need to see a local physician to get a new prescription written. What would she do?

Without a second thought, Cheryl phoned Travel Guard and informed them of the situation. Within a matter of minutes, Travel Guard called back with the name of a walk-in clinic that was open in the evening where she would be able to see a physician and have her prescription refilled.

Breathing a sigh of relief, Cheryl could now be on her way to see her family.

  • We wanted to enhance our vacation experience…

So we called and Travel Guard coordinated a taxi to have us picked up at the airport and taken to a hotel. We were even able to get more out of our trip by calling Travel Guard who worked with the Vatican, Galleria de Borghese, Galleria Dell'Accademia and the Uffizi to reserve tickets for us in advance and obtain tour information for the us so that we could thoroughly enjoy our last few days of vacation. We could not have made this trip without your assistance. In the future, we will always use your service. Our trip was successful and memorable because of the prompt and accurate assistance that you provided.
