Covered in Cabo
Cheryl and her daughter, Katharine, were on their way to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico to celebrate Katharine's high school graduation. The pair was excited to enjoy the trip, but within hours of landing at their destination, Katharine became ill.
"She started vomiting that night, and continued through the next day," said Cheryl. "She was so sick, that I called the hotel's doctor, who came to our hotel room, saw how dehydrated she was, and personally drove us to the local emergency room."
At the hospital they hooked Katharine up to fluids and did many blood tests, but still couldn't make a diagnosis. Later that night she was released from the hospital even though she was still sick. Cheryl knew they shouldn't continue their vacation, so she booked a flight home for the next morning which cost $1,500.
Thankfully, they had a Travel Guard plan and one phone call connected them with a representative who recommended a good hospital in the area, arranged medical bill payment via Spanish translator and help Cheryl begin the claims process for her lost vacation investment and the airline tickets home.
Upon their return, Cheryl said, "I traveled around the world many times with my family and never purchased a travel insurance plan, and never needed it. This was the first time I bought travel insurance, and to this day, I don't know what made me buy it. If I had not purchased the travel insurance, this trip would have cost me thousands of dollars that I don't have. I will never travel again without a Travel Guard plan, and I will definitely spread the word about the incredible service I received from everybody at Travel Guard."
