    Answers to commonly asked travel insurance questions


    • Yes. We offer a variety of travel insurance plans for various types of travel both domestic and international.
    • The deposit or initial payment date is the day on which you made your first payment toward your trip. (i.e airline tickets, hotel, cruise, tour etc)
      The deposit date and final payment date can be the same if you are paying your full trip cost on the same day.
    • Most travel insurance plans can be purchased up to 24 hours prior to departure. Some plans offer optional upgrades that may have time restrictions for purchase.
    • Anyone who resides at the same address can be insured on the same plan. Anyone with a different address should be insured on a separate plan.
    • No. All of the packages available for cruises include medical expense coverage.
    • It reimburses for forfeited, non-refundable, unused payments or deposits if the insured must cancel or interrupt their trip due to covered reasons. The interruption benefit may also include coverage for additional transportation expenses.
    • In addition to trip cancellation and interruption, most travel insurance plans include coverage for trip delay, missed connection, baggage and personal effects, baggage delay, medical expense, and emergency evacuation which includes repatriation of remains. 24 hour assistance services are included to help the traveler with things such as emergency medical assistance, lost baggage tracking, emergency cash transfer, emergency or last minute travel arrangements, assistance with replacing lost travel documents, and much more.
    • A traveler could lose all prepaid, non-refundable deposits or payments. A travel insurance plan provides for reimbursement to the insured traveler for these expenses if cancelling their trip due to a covered reason.
    • Travel insurance offers travelers coverage due to unforeseen problems from a cancelled flight due to an illness, or in some plans, an act of terrorism or the financial default of a travel supplier. If an illness, accident, or other covered unforeseen circumstance forces a traveler to cancel or interrupt their travel plans, they may have two potentially major financial losses – money invested in non-refundable prepaid travel expenses, and medical expenses that in some instances may not be covered by their personal health insurance.
    • A pre-existing condition is one that was first diagnosed, had a change in diagnosis, or required a change in medication during a certain time period immediately preceding and including the effective date of the travel insurance coverage. The time period is usually 60 to 180 days depending upon the plan purchased.
    • The pre-existing medical condition exclusion may be waived when a plan is purchased with initial trip payment or within a specified time frame following the date the initial deposit or payment was made on the trip.     • Some plans include coverage due to terrorist incidents both within the United States and abroad. Please refer to the Description of Coverage for additional details.
    • No, there are some items that are not included such as artificial prosthetic devices, false teeth, any type of eyeglasses, sunglasses, contact lenses or hearing aids, tickets, currency, etc. For additional information, please refer to the Description of Coverage.
