Are you an adrenaline junkie? Do you simply love the rush that comes with slicing down the side of a mountain, fresh powder beneath you? Or maybe you’re a beginner, looking for the ideal spot to coast your way down some gentle slopes. Whatever your level of expertise, take a trip to any one of these thrilling ski destinations and you won’t end up disappointed.

    Telluride, Colorado

Receiving, on average, more than 300 inches of snow annually, Telluride offers over 2,000 acres of skiable terrain; with 300 days of yearly sunshine they’re the perfect conditions to hit the slopes.1 There are trails for all levels of expertise, from wide open gentle slopes to steep bump runs. If plunging slopes aren’t enough adrenaline for you, there are also heli-skiing options available.

    Mont-Tremblant, Quebec

Selected 15 years in a row as the number one resort in Eastern North America by Ski Magazine, Mont-Tremblant has a lot to offer an avid skiier.2 Mont-Tremblant has 300km of trails for cross-country skiers that run through valleys and alongside rivers. At the base of the surrounding mountains sits the town of Mont-Tremblant. Visit the Tremblant Resort sector of the town to take a stroll down the pedestrian-only streets and check out the boutiques and restaurants that line the streets.

    Salt Lake City, Utah

Home of the 2002 Winter Olympics, Salt Lake City has developed into a contemporary hub for skiing and winter sports. Resorts in Salt Lake City are all located in steep canyons with breathtaking views of the Salt Lake Valley. If you’re looking for more variety, stay in downtown Salt Lake City and visit a new ski resort each day. With Utah’s unique lake effect weather phenomenon, Salt Lake City sees an average of 500 inches of dry powder annually.3

    Chamonix, France

With a reputation as the European capital of ‘extreme adventure sports’ you’ll find plenty of thrills around every turn.4 Chamonix’s reputation comes in part from being home to Mont Blanc, Western Europe’s highest summit. At Les Grands Montets in Chamonix, ski some of the steepest vertical drops, experience the world famous pistes, and try the superb glacial skiing all in the heart of the mountains.5

    Hokkaido, Japan

Think of top skiing locations and Japan probably isn’t the first destination to come to mind, but Hokkaido, located in northernmost Japan, is a spectacular winter sport haven. Geographically located in the path of consistent weather systems, snow begins falling in early November and can remain until mid-May in some areas.6 Hokkaido is widely known for the incredibly dry powder that falls annually, which makes for extremely rewarding skiing.

    Story 2 Image November

Holiday travel is hard enough. Take a look at these apps that can make your travel easier. Whether you’re just going down the road or across the country, these apps can help!

    TripIt
A must-have itinerary app. No matter where you book your flight, TripIt will keep it organized for you. Know where you’re going, where your connecting flight is, and alternative routes if you miss your flight. Simply forward your flight confirmation emails to TripIt and TripIt takes care of the rest!

    GasBuddy
With gas prices seemingly always on the rise, GasBuddy helps you locate gas stations and see their current gas prices.

    Yelp
Part of the excitement of being in a new city is trying new restaurants and foods that you don’t have access to at home. Yelp helps you find those restaurants! Yelp functions as a social networking/restaurant review app. You can trust that you’re getting the inside tips on where to eat from locals and other travelers alike. As a bonus, Yelp also gives you turn-by-turn directions to your destination – so there’s no getting lost on the way to your dinner!

    HotelTonight
Flight cancelled? Got a flat tire? HotelTonight helps you book a hotel last-minute at a serious discount.

    FlightBoard
Instantly turn your phone into an airport arrival and departure board. You can see in real time if flights are delayed or on time. This app comes in handy if you are the one traveling or if you are picking family up at the airport.

    Hailo
You got through the airport in one piece, but as you wobble to the curb with luggage, carry-on’s and holiday gifts, you wonder how to hail a cab without putting everything down. With the Hailo app, it’s easy. Rather than drop everything to hail a cab – Hailo’s ‘pick me up’ button uses your phone’s GPS to make a cab come to you!

    Waze
Enter your destination and Waze will help you avoid traffic and get you the quickest route for the current traffic conditions.
